Give yourself grace
Would you talk to your kids or your best friend the way you talk to yourself? The answer is probably “No Way!”. Then why is it so easy to put yourself down and doubt your potential? Give yourself grace! You’ve accomplished so much more than you give yourself credit for. Stop being your own worst enemy with these helpful tips.
One way to stop beating yourself up is to start tracking your small wins. You can do this by writing them down in a journal, the notes app on your phone or you can write them and put them in a jar. Tracking your wins will give you something tangible to look back on when you are feeling unaccomplished. Small wins build confidence and create momentum.
Another way to give yourself grace is by asking for help. Women tend to be people pleasers and if you’re giving all your time and energy to others, it’s impossible to focus on your goals. If this is the case, try having a conversation with your partner, family or older kids. Let them know how you feel and come up with a plan that will allow you to focus on yourself. This might feel selfish, but they will benefit from having a happier and healthier version of you around. Besides, who set the unrealistic expectation that the women/moms is supposed to do EVERYTHING?
Although setting goals and being ambitious seems like a positive thing, it’s important to remember that it’s ok to rest. Unrealistic expectations can lead to burn out. The best way to avoid burnout is to set a weekly schedule that includes work, self care, goals, family time and FUN! I know that it sounds easier said than done. Every week wont not be evenly balanced but make sure to not let too much time pass without having some fun and relaxation.
In conclusion, you are doing your best! Stop demanding so much from yourself. You are human, you are not a robot. Not every stage of life is meant to be about hustling and accomplishing goals. Stop chasing the prize and enjoy the journey. The small moments throughout your day make up your life! Stop rushing through it or wishing it away. You are enough! You are loved! You are perfect just the way you are!
